Where does drug addiction originated? Do we have some drug addicts in the past early years or decades? Anyways, some people and organizations in most cultures that do not treat drug addiction as a disease or as a result of any biological or genetic predispositions. There are also people and organizations that have strong social and personal interests in the entire non-physiological models of addictive human behaviors. The perspective of the social problems of most of these people and organizations are primarily based on the philosophical orientations with the perspective of social aspects.

The history of drug addiction is quite hard to trace as no one knows how it come to its general term. Though, throughout time, many great people, professionals, and institutions had tried to seek alternatives and helps on how to prevent drug addiction. Nowadays, there are various different programs and services that have tried helping individuals experiencing drug addiction as well as alcoholism. However the success rates of these programs and services are extraordinarily very low considering the investment and effort made.

There are innumerable reasons why these programs and services are not working in some cases. One reason is that some existing programs and services have false assumptions on the philosophy of human nature as they do not address the emotions and motivations of drug addictions.

Rehabilitation centers and drug treatments are usually operating on the belief that philosophical and social factors are causing the drug addiction behaviors and that if given the chance of changing the belief system of the addicted person, his or her social support structure could end the behavior. The success of the treatments of drug addiction should not last long. This is only a superficial view that comes from some religious and governmental orientations that used to maintain the belief that drug addiction is the result of weak character, bad personal choices, and anti-social or irreligious behaviors. However, these perspectives are not useless these are just attempts to improve the human conditions. In solving these perspective problems, one must see the socially-based perspective as well, which can have deeper roots in the human emotions and motivations.

Every drug addicted individual has his own history or reasons on how he got attached to drug addiction. Such history or reasons are primarily important in his treatment plans as type or class of treatments is needed to be prepared and motivated. The kind of drug substances where the person got addicted is also important to know where and how to begin the process of treatments.
