Drug addiction self-assessment

Are you an occasional drug user? Do you find yourself feeling cavalier about the whole thing, thinking that you can handle it just fine? Be wary. You might be going overboard but aren't aware of it. A simple drug addiction test may be the solution. You simply have to ask yourself some simple questions. You can start by asking yourself if you ever had that nagging feeling telling you that you must cut down on your dosage. Or you can check if there was ever a time when you used more drugs than you intended. Another thing that must ring the warning bells is when you find yourself using drugs even when you're alone. You should also check for incidents when you used drugs for quite a long duration, longer than you had intended. Do you have a regular schedule for using drugs? You can check for regularities such as every after a meal, or before going to bed or maybe after or before sex. You must also check for times when you used more than one type of drug, say, a combination of marijuana and cocaine. Was there ever a time when you felt that you hated yourself for using drugs? This may be your instinct telling you that you have a problem. Or you can take the cue from other people. Has anybody ever chastised you because of your drug use, telling you that you use too much? This may be the warning that you need. Or have you gotten yourself into the habit of lying to your family and friends? Or maybe to a doctor, just so you can get the prescription that you need? Worse, you may already be in the habit of stealing, to cover the expenses of your drug use. Or you may be stealing the drug itself. If you find yourself panicking when your drugs are at a low supply. If you find yourself needing a higher dosage to get yourself the usual level of high you need. Or if you find yourself experiencing withdrawal symptoms when without drugs for a long time, then you may be in too deep. The next thing you know, you're in a hospital because of an episode of overdose. Some indirect results of an unhealthy drug use are when you start associating yourself with the people who are often regarded as the bad kind. You will also find yourself disassociated from your friends who don't use drugs (in other words, the healthy company). Worse, your relationship with your family is falling in shambles. If you find that you can relate to all the negative things you have just read above, it's high time you get help. You have to get a grip of reality. Your drug use is at an unhealthy stage and you need to stop.
