These drugs contain barbiturates and benzodiazepines that create long term cellular changes through enhancements of actions of the inhibitory neurotransmitter gamma amino butyric acid or the GABA.

The central nervous systems stimulants are drugs that raise the levels of serotonin and dopamine in the synapses. The dopamine is being released by the brain as part of the reward system wherein you can learn to search for stimuli such as food and sex. Meanwhile the serotonin is a chemical form in the brain that regulates the mood. These stimulants usually block the re-absorption of dopamine after it had been released by the brain and can even physically changes the sensitivities of the receptors.

One drug that affects the nerve cells of the reward pathways in our brain is the Opioid, which is a very similar activity with the stimulants as it produces positive reinforcements while being used. There are also opioid receptors found in the spinal cord, brain and gastrointestinal tract.

Our human body is our temple and it is needed to be well taken care of. The more that you will allow yourself in tolerating factors such as drugs to conquer your body and mind, the more you tend to experience the causes of drug addiction. So better take care of that body and enjoy your life ahead!
