Accupuncture and drug addiction treatment
The use of acupuncture method for drug addiction treatment has become very popular even in the modern times. It is an alternative medicine used worldwide most specifically the United States that has become a billion-dollar industry. A recent study in 1993 shows that American public had spent almost much on acupuncture method as an alternative medicine. One reason for this is that more people tend to visit conventional therapy providers instead of resorting to rehabilitation centers or hospitals, which are more likely expensive.
Nowadays, acupuncture has virtually known as one of the most popular alternative medicines in the United States. Its popularity began in America when James Reston, a well-respected journalist of New York' Times had traveled to China in 1971 and was stricken with acute appendicitis. From this experience, Reston wrote an article referring to use of Chinese acupuncture method as a healing medicine. He spoke well about the advantages of acupuncture as an alternative and conventional medicine.
The healing powers of acupuncture had led to the discovery as powerful weapon in defeat against any chemical dependency such as drug addiction. It highly promises ailments to people experiencing addiction and dependency on drug chemicals. However, the medical community protests on the popularity of acupuncture method as they believe that scientific data and diagnosis are far more reliable than any other forms of alternative medicines such as acupuncture. On the contrary, acupuncture had improved plenty of the serious symptoms and signs of drug addiction but still facilitating the continuance of detoxification therapies, counseling and rehabilitation treatments.
Though some medical communities in the United States protests against the use acupuncture method for drug addiction, there are some medical professionals who agree on acupuncture as a safe treatment for chronic pains that is experienced in drug addiction. However there are also some medical professionals who believed that acupuncture method is only placebo effect of treatment.
The acupuncture treatment had encouraged some detoxification clinics in United States to incorporate the method into their programs. The court systems in most of the major cities have created drug courts, which is a program of extensive treatment and counseling whereas the method of acupuncture is substituted for the conventional prosecution. With this approach in most court systems it only shows that acupuncture is an effective part of the solution for drug addiction.
Acupuncture is not only best for drug addiction it can also be used as relief for other diseases such as morning sickness, nausea, arthritis and asthma.
